Our 2nd year managing the concept and end-to-end production of The Age Music Victoria Awards was even more fun than the first!
A truck load of talent spilled in the nominee pool, a bucketload of talent, and a cracking line-up including Melbourne Ska Orchestra, Camp Cope, Alex Lahey and members of the Rockwiz Band performing with guest singers Gareth Liddiard (The Drones), Paul Dempsey, Remi, Alex Lahey, Gawurra, Freya Josephine Hollick, Kylie Auldist and the Pierce Brothers.
As well as the continuation of fresh talent performing the best songs of the year, this year, we threw a couple of suggestions into the mix; the introduction of a new category for small venues under 500 capacity, and a mix up to the previously combined format splitting the night into a VIP Awards event and a huge After Party for punters to join in. The results? Incorporation into the Melbourne Music Week program, and a sell out show 6 weeks early.
With the combination of 800 Aussie Music Industry and 400 mad music lovers in one room celebrating the diversity of Victorian music this event looks to hit our expected growth and we expect numbers and interest will grow in 2017.
