Held in the Mornington Peninsula, and fast becoming a coastal version of the Birdcage, the Portsea Polo event hosts over 6000 guests dressed to impress and ready to enjoy the hospitality of the exclusive marquees… oh and watch the Polo!
We presented a series of creative concepts to Fred and Ginger Catering, the official catering provider, to pitch to their clients and lift the level of styling previously provided to their clients, so they could focus on the hospitality, and we could wow the crowds with style.
Our marquee styling focussed on three concepts including 'English Garden', 'Lombok' and 'Coachella'.
In the English Garden, guests entered to be surrounded by hydrangeas, lavender and daisies, flanked with birch trees. Replicating the floral features, an upside down, 2m wide paper-garden by artist Amanda May Lee, brightened up the bar as a hanging installation. Garden benches sat guests amongst the floriferous borders and high-bars teamed with Bentwood seating, added an element of tradition to the furnishings.
Next door in the Lombok marquee, guests sipped cocktails in their own lush bamboo jungle amongst a mix of antique terracotta urns, ceramic pots and hanging bamboo lanterns. Furniture selection of jade coloured Tolix benches and cafe seating, provided a connection to the element, synonymous with Indonesia.
Across the field, guests at the JAGGAD marquee suitably carried the theme of ‘Coachella’ through to their all white dress code as they partied throughout the afternoon amongst cactus and Bangalow palms. We ramped up the marquee style up a notch and lined the walls with stone printed vinyl interiors, hanging bespoke cut Perspex screens which set the backdrop for the silk flower JAGGAD lettering. The DJ pumped beats from a marble station, with cushioned bars providing service to the Sesion Tequila cocktails and an array of delicious food by Fred and Ginger. A selection of high and low furniture in coral and yellow Featherstone chairs added a pop of colour to the garden party area.
The Perspex screens, whilst weighing 9kgs each and taking 2 hours to install (and about 30 supplier calls), were definitely a highlight for us and particularly as they featured heavily across almost every social news source in the land.
