We've had our heads down of late and been getting stuck into a number of upcoming projects.
The third annual Leaps and Bounds Music Festival returning in 2015 taking place in Australia’s largest gigging precinct in the Melbourne’s inner city.
Over 50 participating venues in Fitzroy, Collingwood, Richmond, Abbotsford, North Carlton, Clifton Hill and North Fitzroy will collectively host more than 300 events featuring around 800 acts during the 17 day festival.
We are excited to announce that we are programming and producing the upcoming Spiegeltent Sessions at The Melba Spiegeltent. It is the first time this unique space has be used as a gig venue for the first time during the Festival.
Built in Belgium in 1910, it travelled across Europe and saw numerous performances through it’s bevelled doors, including Edith Piaf and Kurt Weil in the ’20s and ’30s. In 2006 it came to Australia and was renamed after one of Australia’s fabulous opera soprano, Dame Nellie Melba.
First to kick off proceedings are Graveyard Train. Describing their style as horror-country, Graveyard Train are crazed men making music the only way crazed men can. One member even plays a chain with a hammer!Whilst continuing to prove to be one of Australia’s most respected independent bands, the lads are gearing up to do what they do best, parties. The first band to party in the Melba Spiegeltent during Leaps n Bounds…. Hell yeah! Following on, vixen with powerhouse vocals Stella Angelico and Mojo Juju, who will bring elements of RnB, soul and blues sometimes crooning, other times almost rapping with the beat.
Graveyard Train – Saturday 4 July
Stella Angelico – Friday 10 July
Mojo Juju – Saturday 18 July
More details and ticket sale dates announced soon.
This year Leaps and Bounds will run from Friday July 3 until Sunday July 19 with the main focus on traditional venues as well as specially curated events in unique performance spaces within Yarra.
