Each year we see the fashion world take over the city for Melbourne Fashion Week and play host to some amazing runways, workshops, exhibitions and talks.
We headed along this year, find out what we loved below…
The Fashion Capsules
Fashion finds itself popping up in the unexpected and adding some colour into the busy, fast paced life of the city workers; encouraging everyone to stop and look up from their phones.
Capsules included an insane leafy sculpture in the middle of Emporium by our floristry crushes, Loose Leaf; and a giant balloon structure at Collins Square by Moonshot Balloons.
The Bourke Street Mall capsule featured some very innovative work from recent fashion graduates. Some of which gave us epic Burning Man outfit inspo.
Our good friend Amanda May created one of her whimsical paper masterpieces that floated romantically above a pond at 101 Collins. And 12 designers brought some quirky fashion to the busy Campbell Arcade underpass windows giving commuters a reason to slow down during the peak hour rat race.
Dreams Echoing The Memories Of Time
One of our standout favourites this year was this breathtaking installation where photography, fashion, and floristry met to create one dreamy experience.
The moment you walk into this installation, held at fortyfivedownstairs, a feeling of calm washes over and you are met with the beautiful soundscape of the natural world with birds chirping, leaves rustling, and kids laughing.
Journeying through the immersive experience has you stumbling upon photographs that are brought to life in the form of couture gowns, and sweet poems that evoke warm childhood memories of sunny days, and time spent with family and friends.
A truly breathtaking experience created by some very talented artists!
Town Hall Runway Six
Featuring the beautiful creations by Australian women’s labels Asilio, C/MEO Collective, Gorman, Keepsake The Label, Misha Collection, and Nicola Finetti.
The girls strutted their stuff down the runway to some epic tunes by one of our local favourites, Baby Blue. Rhea and her band played in the centre of the runway under three light up cubes that washed the runway with vibrant changing colours, adding some mood lighting vibes to the show #lightinggoals
